patent roll 1266-72 p328
Inspeximm and confirmation of letters patent of Edward the king's
Westminster, son, dated at London, 9 March, 53 Henry HI, granting that whereas
by gift of the king he had Thomas son of Thomas de London with all
his goods, moveable and immoveable, to whose gift the said Thomas
belonged by reason of trespasses done by him, and whereas after he
had had him some time he has thought fit, having received a ransom from
him to deliver him from captivity, not willing that he shall be bound
to answer any one by occasion of any forfeiture committed by him in
the time of the disturbance, because by the king's gift Edward profits
by all the goods that belonged to the said Thomas, he adopts him as
his own man, decreeing that he shall answer to no one otherwise than
his own man ought to answer, and grants to him all his moveable
chattels which have hitherto come to the hands of the said Edward
or his men. |
