June 10. The like to John de Lovetot and Elias de Bekingham, together with the mayor and sheriffs of London, to examine the record and process of an inquisition on complaint by Thomas de Basing, citizen of London, that whereas he was adjudged by his fellow citizens to repair a house of his in Thames Street which threatened with ruin the adjoining houses, aud caused it to be so repaired in length and breadth as it used to be, Robert de Rokesle asserting that he was thereby disseised of his free tenement, caused such inquisition to be taken in his absence by certain of his enemies and strangers who were ignorant of the facts before the said mayor and sheriffs, by reason of which inquisition a part of the house was thrown down, and the timber thereof carried away by the said Robert and the men of the said Thomas who were in the house arrested and imprisoned. |
