Monday before the Feast of St. Andrew [30 Nov.], 16 Edward
I. [A.D. 1287], was read a writing of agreement whereby
John Cros and Mariota de Bradestrate his wife granted and to
ferm let to Walter de Witeford a shop in Sopperlane, near to
Kyrunelane3 on the east, and the lands and tenements belonging
to the Prioress and Nuns of Haliwelle and to Ernard de Oxford.
To hold for a term of twelve years from Easter last, paying for
the first six years an annual rent of 15*. The lessee to find

material for repairing- the roof of the said shop, whilst the
lessors agree to provide all other necessaries. In case of sale
or demise for further term the lessee to have priority by half a
mark. For this grant the lessee pays to the lessors the sum of
