The like to Ralph de Hengham and Elias de Bekingham to examine,
together with the mayor and sheriff's of London, and correct the record
and process of a Buit in the hustings of London wherein John de Berchampsteil impleaded by writ of richt. John de Northampton touching two messuages and four shops in London, whereupon the said John de Northampton vouched to warranty William sow of Henry, who likewise vouched to warranty John son of Ingram, who produced a deed by which be said tbat one Matilda his grandmother (whose heir he was) was enfeoffed by the said John de Berchampsted, who alleged that tbe said deed was obtained by the fraud of his mother while he was a minor and in her custody ; whereupon the said |>arties put themselves on an inquisition which, UB is alleged by the said John de Berchampsted, was improperly conducted by the snid mayor and sheriff, who, without examining certain articles as to which doubts existed, gave judgment against him. |
