Patent Roll 1266-72: p381
Commission to Hugh son of Otto, constable of the Tower of London and keeper of that city as follows. Whereas Hugh de Turbervill, who claims to have the houses of Richard Bonaventure in the city of London of the king's gift by occasion of trespasses charged against the latter in the time of the disturbance, has granted before the king that if the said Richard purge his innocence of the trespasses, he shall recover the said houses, saving.to the said Hugh the goods of the said Richard therein at the time when he entered the said houses by reason of the said grant; the king with the assent of both Hugh and Richard, has appointed him to enquire by the oath of men who were not against the king at the time of the disturbance, and who did not withdraw from the fang's allegiance, whether the said Richard stood against the king adhering to his enemies, and if he finds that he was not, to restore the said houses to him, saving to Hugh the said goods. |
