236 Grant by William de Arundel, horse-dealer, to William le Rous, m. of SBH, of two messuages with ten shops [sic] with eight solars built over them, of which one messuage is between the land .of the prior of Kenilworth in the S., the tenements of Ralph Godchep formerly of Robert de Bery, the garden and house of Luke de Nedham in the [blank], the tenements of Simon de Pabenham and Roger de Acton in the N., Westsmithfield in the E., and a tenement of John Gille in the W. The other messuaie with two shops with solars built over them are between a tenement formerly of Roger de Appelby in the E. and W. and that formerly of m. Henry de Bray in the N., Hosier Lane in the S. The two shops are between this messuage in the E. and the tenement formerly of Fyna la Parker in the W., abutting on the messuage of William de Arundel in the N., on Hosier Lane in the S. Four shops with solars are between the messuages of William Arundel and a tenement of William de Acton in the E., a teriement of Simon de Pabenham in the W., ext. from the tenement of the prior of Kenilworth and the tenement of Roger de Appelby in the S. to the highroad in the N. Two shops with solars are between the tenement of Roger de Appelby in the S., the tenement of the prior of Kenilworth in the N. These two shops are of the gift of Simon de Westeye, joiner. William de Arundel also grants to SBH one mark ann. q. rent which he received from Thomas de Mimmes which is ppid either from the rent of a tenement of Simon de Pabenham which is between a tenement of the same Simon in the N., that of John le Taverner in the S. and W., or from a tenement next to the one Which the same Simon holds of the gift of Richard de Westmethefeld, smith, and which is next to the highroad towards the E. Of the remaining shops, four shops which the said William has of the gift of Adam de Lymberwe, acquired from Fyna la Parker, are between the tenement of Robert de Geldeford, armourer, in the W. and that which the same William granted to SBH in the E., Hosier Lane in the S., the tenement of the prior of Kenilworth in the N. Wit. Simon de Pabenham, John Hereward, Richard le Ussher, William de Hakeneye, Laurence de Hadham, Richard atte Gate, William le Cordewanere. This gift was made on condition that a chaplain in SBH would pray for the souls of William de Arundel, Christine his wife, Thomas de Sybethorp, clerk, and brother William le Rous. The prayers must be said in the Chapel of St Katherine on the N. side of sm.', which was newly built by William de Arundel. zo May 1326.
