A. 1992. Release by Alice, late the wife of Stephen de Gisebourne, at
the instance of William her son, his heir, to E. the prior, and the canons of
Holy Trinity, London, of the land in the parish of St. Michael Cornhill,
London, that Stephen, and afterwards William, held of their fee : promising
that Philip de Haltstede and herself will as soon as possible go to the
Guildhall "quia vir meus est et factum meum posset revocare," [and]
execute a recognisance of this release in the Husting. For greater security
she has given the prior by way of pledge a third part of the price of the land,
viz. 40s., till the execution of the recognisance. Witnesses : Walter le
Poter, alderman of the ward, and others (named). |
