Because the Jews of London in the time of the disturbance in the
realm, sustained many losses and enormities the king has taken into
his special protection the said Jews, their houses, rents and possessions,
and appointed as their keepers and protectors Richard de Ewell,

de Munpilers, Peter Cusin, William le Wimpler, William de Hadestok,
William de Laufare, Peret Auger, Hugh de Heston, Matthew de
Foleham, Robert de Cornhull, Geoffrey de Wincestre, Reynold le
Bucher, Edward le Blunt, Alexander de Suff', Henry le Wimpler,
Philip the Tailor, Peter de Gisors, William de Dureme, Arnold
Thedmar, Anketin le Mercer, Nicholas de Basing, Henry de Coventre,
John de Elmeton, Tericius de Budelee, John de Northampton, William
le Bonmercer, Robert Hauteyn, Henry de Frowik, Ralph le Blund,
Hugh de Buntelee, Osbert de Stiff, Reynold de Suff', Reynold le Meyr,
John de Cestrehunte, John de Dunestaple, Bartholomew le Especer,
James le Peverer, Henry Walemund, Gregory de Rokele, Walter
Box, Richard Box, John Boueyre, Thomas de Wimburn, John de la
Lawe, Geoffrey de Chesewik and William le Bever, citizens of
London; and commands them to cause proclamation to be made
throughout the city of London, that none, under peril of life and
limb, molest the said Jews in their persons or goods; to endure for
two years. |
