Demise by Matilda, relict [widow] of Adam Kitien, to London Bridge for the term of 3 years of a shop in Candelwickstreet in the parish of St Leonard Eastcheap; lying between the parch (porcha) of walter Joie on the W and the shop of Ralph of the garden on the E; in consideration of the sum of 23s received by the same Matilda from the Bridge, when about to set forth to the Holy Land. Provided that, if she does not return, the said shop shall remain to the Bridge aforesaid in perpetuity, according to the will of the said Adam, her late husband. Dated Easter next after the capture of Bedford Castle (March 1225)
