A. 2241. Grant by Matilda, daughter of Michael de Valescines, late
the wife of Arnald Brun, to John, her elder son and heir, of all her land and dwelling house that Robert Brun his father gave to Arnald on his
marriage, in the parish of St. John Zakary, which she and Arnald bought
back from the canons of St. Bartholomew at Semethefeld for 32 marcs ;
saving to herself for life free residence in the said dwelling and free board. As to the 30 marcs she has given her son John on his departure for the Holy Land, if he return safe and sound she shall not keep him out of the premises on their account : and if he die before returning, his next heir shall satisfy her that amount before entering on the premises.
