I Edward de Luitlenton have given . . . . . . . to Nicholas Beuclerk and Stephana his wife and the heirs born of their body and not beyond all that my tenement with all its appurtenances which [is] in the parish of the blessed Botulph towards Byllynggesgate between the tenement of John Brother towards the east and the tenement of Richard Asswy towards the west To hold . . . . . . for ever so that by no manner the tenement aforesaid may be alienated from the heirs aforesaid Rendering therefor yearly to me and my heirs always on the day of the Nativity of the blessed John the Baptist one rose and to the kitchen of the monks of Certesey 34s. to be received at 2 terms of the year, namely in the feast of St. Michael 17s. [and] in the feast of Easter I7s. for all service and all things. But after the decease of Nicholas and Stephana and the heirs born of their bodies the aforesaid tenement shall remain to the aforesaid kitchen without contradiction for ever (seculo durante) For this grant Nicholas and Stephana have given me 40 marks sterling in gersumam Witnesses : Sir William son of Richard then Mayor of London, Adam Brunyng and Henry de Couentr' then sheriffs, Ernald Tedmar' then Alderman of the same Ward, John Bocher, Roger Aldeman, Osbert the Clerk and others. |
