John, the prior, and the convent of Holy Trinity, London, for 5 marcs,
of 14*. 8ti. yearly rent issuing from a shop in Soppereslane, at the eastern
corner, by the great market of London ; paying therefor 8*. yearly. Witnesses
: William son of Richard, Mayor of London, Thomas son of
Thomas, William Grapefige, sheriffs, and others (named). [42 Henry III.]
hta adds: Adam Basing, alderman; and thus there remains to HOly Trinity 6s. 8d. of the 14s 8d.

[See 504] [1258] Grant by Laurence de St. Michael son of William to John prior and convent of 14s. 8d. p.a. of quit rent which William de Totham was accustomed to pay the grantor from a certain shop in Soperslane ; to be held of the grantor and his heirs at a rent of 8s. p.a. to be paid without any fraud or quibbling (cavillatione); the canons gave 5 marks in gersuma; sealed; witnesses, William son of Richard, mayor, Thomas son of Thomas, William Grapefige, sheriffs, Adam Rasyn {Basing}, alderman; and thus there remains to Holy Trinity 6s. 8d. of the 14s. 8d.
