Charter, granting, at the instance of - Queen Eleanor, to Richard de
Ewel, king's serjeant, for his homage and service, ah that land in
des Pres. harnham whieh Ralph Haket held sometime of the king's bail, and
which came to the kmg's hands as an escheat of the lands of the count
of St. Pol in England; which land the king had lately granted by
charter to Stephen de Salines, knight, and his heirs, and Gerard de
Salines, brother and heir of the said Stephen, afterwards quit-claimed
to the king to the use of the said Richard; to hold to him, his heirs
and assigns at a rent of a pair of gilt spurs at the Exchequer on
Michaelmas or of 6d. for all service, until the king or his heirs restore
it to the right heirs of his own will or by a peace, in either of which
cases the king will not disseise him until he has made him a reasonable
exchange. Witnesses;—As last mentioned, with the omission of Ingram
de Fednes, and the addition of Imbert de Muntferaunt. |
