Account of Thomas de Maryns, the Chamberlain of the Guildhall,
up to the jth Sept., 13 Edward III. [a.d. ijjcj], rendered
before John de Causione, Richard lacer, and William de
Brikelesworth, Aldermen, John de Dallynge, Richard de
Welleford, Robert de Shordiche, Richard de lomhuthe, John
de Tiffeld, John de Brendewode, John atte Barnette, Thomas
de Canterbury, Thomas de Waledene, and John de Ayllesham,
Commoners, elected and appointed auditors by the Mayor,
Aldermen, and Commonalty on Friday before the Feast of
St. George [2J April], 13 Edward III. [a.d. .rjjp]. 1
Among- the receipts are the following', viz. : From Anketin
Gisors and Robert Swote, late Wardens of the Bridge, touching
their recognizance, £20 ; from John de Pulteneye for discharge
of the Chamber, 5 marks ; money received for engines
in the time of the war, £97 15s. 8d. ; money borrowed for
piles (pro pilis) and making a bretask,2 £ 1 10 ; receipts of murage,
£29 is. 8d.; arrears of account for armed men and archers and
of the last account of Henry de Seccheford, 43.?. gd.
Total of receipts, £493 6s. id.
Fo. \. Among the items of expenses occur the following', viz. : Payment
of fees {feodorum), £108 12s. ; small expenses and
presents, £59 18s. g'^d. ; payments made for Aldresgate Ward
for the fifteenth of wool and for Nicholas Crane in respect of a
fifteenth for three years, 4 marks.
Total of expenses, £486 17s. g\d.
And so the Chamberlain owes the Commonalty £6 8s. ^\d.,
out of which he is allowed his fee of 50.J. for the term between
Midsummer and Michaelmas anno 13 Edward III. The balance
he will account for in the next account, as also for the sum of

in respect of an allowance made to the citizens in the Exchequer

on the account of Hugh le Marbrer and William de Pounfreyt,
late Sheriffs. |
