Whereas, after the settlement of the late disturbance of the realm, it was provided by the counsel of the magnates that the oath should be made to the king bv certain persons, and Robert Aguilun, though
required, has not made i t ; the king gives power to Thomas son of Thomas, mayor of London, to receive his said oath. [Fcedera, nniur date of April 11.]

Mandate to the said mayor that if the said Robert refuse to t-ako
the said oath in the form which Master Thomas de Putrelesdon will
shew him from the king, or shall put off doing so, lie shall arrest him
and keep him until further order. Further, as the said Robert has
laid himself under suspicion by reason of Ms delay, lie shall, after
receiving his oath, take security from him for his observance^ of it,
and also competent amends for Ms trespass and contempt- in the

mayor as he loves himself and his possessions. [Fcedera.]
Mandate to the said Master Thomas, enclosing a copy of the letters
patent directed to the mayor of London, to complete this business
in conjunction with the mayor, and as he has done in administering
